Day 1: Welcome to Lima & City Tour.

At around 13:45 hrs, our guide and driver will pick you up to begin a 4 hour tour of the city of Lima. The first place we will visit will be Huaca Pucllana which was a ceremonial and administrative pre-Incan building. Then, we will visit the city center where we will get to see the Cathedral of Lima, Francisco Pizarro’s tomb, the catacombs of the San Francisco Monastery, the National Congress, and the Palace of Torre Tagle. We will then continue to the sophisticated and modern districts of Miraflores and San Isidro. From these areas we will have nice views of the ocean. Our tour will finish at Kennedy Park in Miraflores. At this time, you might like to enjoy some delicious Peruvian cuisine in one of the many restaurants that can be found in the area

Day 2: Bus journey from Lima to Paracas

Around 3:00 hrs. Our staff is waiting at the door of the hotel for the bus transfer and assistance for the bus from Lima to the city of Paracas with the Cruz del Sur bus.
07:45 a.m. Arrival at the Paracas spa and transfer to the boarding pier.
08:00 a.m. Tours to the Ballestas Islands, motor boat ride to the Ballestas Islands, where we can observe sea lions, boobies, pelicans, penguins and other marine birds. Upon return we will have the opportunity to see the “Candelabro”, a giant figure of the Nazca Lines style made in the sand. Free time before returning to take pictures of sea lions and seabirds.

Day 3: Bus journey from Paracas to Arequipa

After breakfast, around 07:45 hrs. our staff will transfer you to the bus station to board the bus from Paracas to the city of Nazca .
We will be arriving at 10:45 am. Arrive in the city of Nazca and you will be transferred to the Maria Reiche airfield, after a brief safety explanation we will begin the overflight of the Nazca Lines.
After resting, you will be transferred to the bus station to board your bus from Nasca to the city of Arequipa, your lunch will be on board the bus.
23:30 hrs. Arrival to the city of Arequipa, our staff will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel in Arequipa.

Day 4: Arequipa City Tour

You will have a free morning to explore at your leisure. In the afternoon, our city tour of Arequipa will start between 14:00hrs and 14:30hrs. We will start with a visit to the Main Square, the Cathedral of Arequipa, the Cloisters, La Compañia de Jesus, the colonial district of Yanahuara, the San Lazaro neighborhood, and the residential area of Selva Alegre. We will also visit the Santa Catalina Monastery which has been closed for almost 400 years but where we can still admire its passages, plazas and gardens of great beauty. Our tour will finish at the main square. At this time, you might like to enjoy a nice dinner in one of the many nearby restaurants. Alternatively, we can arrange to drop you to your hotel. Just tell your guide what you would like to do.

Day 5: Colca Canyon tour full day

03:00 a.m. Pick up from the passengers of the different hotels, to start the trip through Yura, the trip will go straight to the cross of the condor (about 5 hours), stopping only for breakfast.
We will arrive at the Cruz del Condor from where we will be able to appreciate one of the deepest canyons in the world and where the sanctuary of the condor is located.

On the way back we will stop in the villages of Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque that have beautiful colonial churches; as well as in the viewpoints of Antahuilque and choquetico from where we can observe the pre-Inca tombs and models and the beautiful landscape of the colca with its impressive andenería.11: 30 aprox. Once in Chivay we will go to the thermal baths.

lunch will be in Chivay and return to Arequipa, back we will stop at the viewpoint of the volcanoes (highest point 4,910msnm), in the bofedales of tocra where you can see diversity of wild birds, herds of alpacas and llamas; In Pampa Cañahuas we will observe vicuña herds (part of the Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve) the beautiful South American camelid possessor of one of the finest fibers in the world.
We will be arriving in the city of Arequipa at 06:00 p.m.

Day 6: Arequipa flight to Cusco / City tour

Upon arrival in Cusco, our transportation will be waiting for you at the airport to welcome you and take you to your hotel (early check-in not included).

You will have the morning to spend at your leisure. You may want to take some time to get acclimatized to the altitude or you can explore some of Cusco’s attractions such as the traditional San Pedro Market, the bohemian neighborhood of San Blas or one of the city’s many museums. Just after lunch, our city tour of Cusco will begin, between 13:00hrs and 13:20hrs. First, we will visit the Cathedral of Cusco, located on the Plaza de Armas.
Then our tour will continue to Qorikancha (The Temple of the Sun) as well as to several of the city’s impressive archeological ruins such as Sacsaywaman, Qenqo, Pukapukara, and Tambomachay. Our tour will finish at the main square. At this time, you might like to enjoy a tasty dinner in one of the many nearby restaurants. Alternatively, we can arrange to drop you at your hotel. Just tell your guide what you are in the mood to do.

Day 7: Sacred Valley Tour

First of all, you will have a delicious breakfast in your hotel. Our staff will pick you up between 08:00hrs and 08:20hrs to start our day in the Sacred Valley. Our first stop will be Pisaq a picturesque Andean Village. In spite of its popularity, the local market has retained much of its charm, at least in the parts of it where villagers from miles around gather to barter and sell their products. After, we will make our way to Urubamba which was one of the major agricultural centers of the Incan Empire and is one of the most beautiful towns in the Sacred Valley. A nice buffet lunch will be waiting for us in this town. We will eat under the blue sky and surrounded by snowcapped mountains. After lunch, we will go to Ollantaytambo, an attractive little town located on the west side of the Sacred Valley. This town has been built on top of original Incan foundations and is the best surviving example of Incan town planning. Chinchero is the last place we will visit today. This village is mainly comprised of mud brick (adobe) houses and the locals still go about their businesses in traditional dress. The walls and roofs of this town are covered in beautiful floral and religious designs. We will be part of the most remarkable textile hand making shows and see great presentations made by locals. On the way back to Cusco, we will enjoy breathtaking views of the nearby Andes Mountains. Once in Cusco, you can choose between being dropped to the main square, where you can have a nice dinner in one of the many nearby restaurants and enjoy some of the city’s nightlife, or we can take you straight to your hotel to relax. Day 8: Short Inka Trail to Machu Picchu

Pick up from your hotels at 5:00 am to take you on a journey of two hours, with a private transportation to the train station in Ollantaytambo . Here we board the Expedition train, travel by train in an hour and 45 minutes to Km 104 (start of our trek). (Worth the effort of getting up early and go with this train, which allows you to enter and begin our walk early , if we expect the usual train would start at noon. Starting this trip from Ollantaytambo is also suggested -( see our Combo option , the trip to the Sacred Valley wiht a night at Ollantaytambo.) At Km 104 after submitting passport control , we began to walk softly around meters Vilcanota River . Starting the way we will see the ruins of Chachabamba , a stone altar -site that was used to worship the sun and the mountains , still revered by local people . After visiting Chachabamba , continue the path south and started a gradual climb to the mountain , before entering a cloud forest , overgrown , then the trail leaves the forest and goes west while continuing uphill in an open meadow . After walking 3 hours , the road descends into a forest amazing. Here you will find a beautiful waterfall , then get to the bottom of the ruins of Winaywayna . Appreciate the beauty of this place , supplemented with information from our expert guide. After lunch at Winaywayna , we will continue in the afternoon in the cloud forest , filled with bromeliads , orchids and tree ferns . As we walk the last part of the way we pass many impressive features such as the stone stairs and drums ( ” resting places ” ) . You climb 60 stairs before you reach Inti Punku ( ” Sun Gate ” ) . From this point, you can see and observe this wonderful place . Then descend for 45 minutes to get to the viewpoint of the famous place , from here you can watch the sunset. Descend to the entry of Machupicchu where we board the bus to Aguas Calientes.

Day 9. Machu Picchu tour

Breakfast from 04:30 am, we started early because the experience of seeing the sunrise in Machu Picchu is unique, we boarded the first bus to Machu Picchu at 05:20, the park opens at 6:00 am. We have a guided tour to Machu Picchu, this enigmatic and mysterious city is explored for approximately 2 to 3 hours. Explained by your expert guide, you can visit the most amazing places like the Royal Mausoleum, the Temple of the three windows, the main temple, the Sacred Square, the famous Intihuatana where the wise Inkas were tied to the sun on the winter solstice in June , stairs, squares, fountains, etc. After finishing our masterful visit, we walked to Aguas Calientes 1 hour (option with the bus to pay $ 12.00 pp). The Travelers Hotel awaits us with a delicious lunch with our group. Then we have free time to explore this picturesque town before boarding our train back to Cusco. The train leaves Aguas Calientes in the afternoon at 16:45 p.m. and arrives in Cusco (Poroy train station) at 8:30 p.m., then moved for 25 minutes to Cusco. (or an optional train at 5:00 p.m. to Ollantaytambo, then a 2-hour trip to Cusco with a van, arrived at approximately 9:00 p.m., we offer you this alternative option, more in high season that runs from April to August)

Day 10, Rainbow Mountain

We pick you up early at your hotel in Cusco around 03:00 am and we will go for a walk through the South Valley. The trip to the beginning of the shipment in Quesiuno (4,326 m / 14,189 feet) lasts 3 hours. On the way, we will provide you with breakfast (at the hotel you may not have the option of getting breakfast).
Then we start our walk, following a lovely stream. Literally herds of alpacas and llamas will surprise you immediately. We will have consistent views of the Ausangate mountain. We will walk through the villages and interact with local residents.
Back on the road, we find more of the traditional elements of this walk. This includes unique potato and wildlife fields. We have the possibility to see chinchillas and vicuñas. The vicuñas are the only undomesticated animal of the llama family in Peru. Many red mountains are also a highlight of this part of the walk.
After a total walk of about 1.5 hours, we finally arrived at our destination, which we came to see … the Rainbow Mountains (5,020 m / 16,466 ft). After overcoming the impact of your beauty, you will have time to explore the area. You will have time to take pictures and immerse yourself in the environment. We will spend approximately 30 minutes at the top.
At this point, it’s time to go back down. We walked down the road that we came. The walk will last 1 hour. Our transport awaits us when we return, we move to the restaurant where lunch.
We embark on the 3-hour trip back to Cusco and leave it at your hotel in Cusco. The approximate time of arrival is from 6:00 to 07:00 pm.

Day 11, The Sun´s Route

Early in the morning our staff will be picking you up from your hotel to take you to your transport.
our first stop will be at the Colonial Temple of Andahuaylillas (3122 masl), where we will visit the Temple of St. Peter the Apostle, the interior is walls and ceilings with admirable fresco paintings and paintings bathed in gold.
We will continue our tour to Raqchi – Wiracocha Temple (3450 masl). The most important structure of the archaeological site of Raqchi is the Temple of Wiracocha, a huge rectangular structure of two floors that measures 92 meters long by 25.5 wide and approximately 9.80 meters. Tall. Its central wall was made with finely carved stones. The base has a height of approximately 3 meters. of adobe (bricks of earth with straw dried by the sun), the walls are 1.65 meters. of thickness in the base and 1.30 mts. Approximately at the top.

  • It is the most important Ceremonial Center of the Altiplano. In the museum you can discover the origin of the Pucará culture through lithic sculptures and ceramics.

Day 12, Lake Titicaca tour

Welcome to Lake Titicaca! To get the most from this day, we recommend you start with a delicious, early breakfast because of our staff will pick you up at around 06: 40hrs to begin our tour of the lake. First, we will visit The Uros which are floating islands inhabited by very friendly local people. These islands are handmade by their inhabitants, using only totora reeds. Long ago, these people established their own settlement upon the enormous lake. Then, we will visit Taquile Island, a spiritual home of the Incas. Here, we will enjoy a delightful and traditional lunch that will be prepared by the chef while you relax in this beautiful place. You will also have an opportunity to explore the island and see the best views of the entire lake. Our staff will bring you back to your hotel in Puno later in the afternoon.

Day 13, bus journey from Puno to La Paz

06:30 am will be collected from your hotel in the city of Puno, by our representative for the transfer to the bus terminal (Terrestrial Terminal), before boarding you must present your passport and migration card for verification.

07:10 am The bus leaves for La Paz (2hrs.and 45 min. Journey) arriving at Desaguadero, border of PERU-BOLIVIA, where passengers must present their passport at the immigration office of both countries to the control and verification. After the review of documents, we will continue with our trip to La Paz (3hrs trip approx.) 14:30 Hrs. (Bolivian time) we arrive at the city of La Paz (Main land terminal). In this station our agency representative will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.

Day 14, La Paz – City tour

At 09:00 (or at 2:00 p.m.) we pick you up from your hotel and head towards the city of El Alto, the youngest city in Bolivia known worldwide for the great influence received from the Aymara culture. There we can find the amautas (Aymaras fortune-tellers) to whom we can consult our fortune.

Then we start our journey through the air in the highest urban cable car in the world, we leave from the panoramic station that will allow us to know this beautiful city from a new perspective; we will enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the mountain range and a city whose houses and streets “hang” from the mountains, “invade” the houses of the inhabitants of the different areas of the city to see how the paceños live from the perspective they offer us the cabins.
We arrive to the populated area known as “Buenos Aires”, due to its busy main avenue, this is one of the most important shopping areas of the city that we will walk observing the traditional street trade, until we reach a traditional market where we can observe typical products of this area and we will know about its use in the varied Bolivian gastronomy.

We will end this day enjoying a traditional sandwich of the paceños: the “chola sandwich”, which is named because in its origin the sellers of this product were the ladies dressed in pollera, the cholas.
Return to the hotel.

Day 15, La Paz – Tiwanaku – La Paz

We will pick you up from your hotel between 07: 30-08: 30 (only form hotels in the center of the city) to begin the tour in shared transportation across the immense High Plateau Ranges to the town of Tiwanaku, where we find the most important archaeological complex of the country.

First, we will visit the local museum for an introduction about Tiwanaku’s heritage.
Then we begin the visit to the archaeological site whose main attraction is the “Puerta del Sol” (Sun Gate) one of the most important archaeological pieces of the continent.

We will also have the chance to visit some other very important ruins of this enigmatic pre-Incan culture in terms of architecture and iconography: the Temple of Kalasasaya, the Templete Semi-subterraneo and the Akapana pyramid, structures that make Tiwanaku one of the most popular places to visit in of Bolivia.

Return to La Paz at 16:00 to a centric point from where you will have the remaining time free.

Day 16, La Paz – Copacabana – Sun Island – La Paz

We will pick you up from your hotel between 07:00 and 07:30 hrs (only from the center of the city) and we begin our trip to the Titicaca Lake, we will travel through the Altiplano (High Plateau). After a 2 hour trip to the narrower section of the lake: the Strait of Tiquina, we will cross it in to the rudimentary local ferry along with local people,
Arrival to the town Copacabana at 12:00 from its port we will get on board of a boat that will take us through the Titicaca Lake to the Sun Island, at its south part we will visit the Inca’s archaeological site of “Pilcocaina Palace” an ancient palace built exclusively for the Inca.

Later we continue to Yumani, there we will visit “Inca Stairs” (Inca’s stairs) which leads us to the “Fountain of the 3 waters” (the Fountain of the 3 Watersheds), the tradition dictates that if you drink from its water you will have eternal life.

You will have some time to take pictures of the lake and the astonishing Royal Range of the Andes and we will go back to the boat to return to Copacabana, there will be a quick visit to the town, enriched by the combination of the Andean and the Christian points of view, the religious sanctuary in honor of Candelaria Madonna, an important pilgrimage site for Bolivians, is located in this town.

Bus to La Paz city at 6:30 p.m., arrival to La Paz bus station at 10:00 p.m., approximately, where our transportation will be waiting to take you to your hotel.

Day 17, La Paz – Coroico – La Paz – Bus To Uyuni

At 08:00 we will pick you up from your hotel and we begin the trip to the magical region of Los Yungas, the geographical transition between the altiplano to the Amazonian rainforest turns out to be a true spectacle of ecological diversity. We start ascending to “the Summit” at 4700 masl, from where you will enjoy the majestic view of the majestic Real Andean Range, after we begin going down more than 2000 meters through rocky mountains, snow-capped peaks and foggy forests to the fertile and sub-tropical jungles of Los Yungas.
After 3 hours we arrive to Coroico, it is a small and relaxing town where the climate turns warm, we will go to a local road until we arrive to a coffee growing farm where we will learn a little from the process to produce artisanal coffee of international recognition due to its high quality On the way we see its agricultural areas, which produces abundant crops of coca, coffee and citric fruits (depending on the time of the year)
Return to La Paz, if the travelers want to have the experience we can go the way back through the famous “Death Road”.

At 19:00, transportation to bus station to take the bus to Uyuni.

Day 18, , Uyuni – Green Lagoon – Hito Cajón – Siloli Desert

At your arrival to Uyuni, we join the group for the departure from Uyuni at 7 a.m. We head to the Chilean border “Hito Cajón“driving for approximately 6 hours, we pass by the nice town of “San Cristobal”. Then we continue southwest towards the border to meet our other companions that come from San Pedro de Atacama (Chile). Before we will stop in the Valley of the Rocks, this bizarre eroded rock formation has hundreds of reddish colored rocks, shapes are due to the constant pounding of the wind and sand. There is a large quantity of viscachas (related to chinchillas) an quirquinchos(armadillos) in the whole area.

Arrival to the border where we wait for a short time while other passengers that come from San Pedro de Atacama do the immigrations paper work. Later we drive into the Eduardo Abaroa National Reserve. The first stop is at Laguna Verde at the foothills of Licancabur Volcano, this lagoon has a surface of more than 17 Km2 of salt water with an elevated content of magnesium, arsenic, lead and calcium carbonate, giving this lagoon a brilliant emerald green color.

Then we drive through Dali’s Desert (the name was given because it resembles a painting of Salvador Dali, the Spanish painter). We continue to Sol de Mañana, where we can observe the bubbling mud “fumaroles” emerge from the depths of the earth.

The highlight of the day is the beautiful Red Lagoon (Laguna Colorada), which receives its name from the reddish colored waters, caused by the presence of “plankton”, a microscopic algae of the specie called Dunaliella Salina. The lagoon is also home to the three types of flamingos: The Andean Flamingo, the James Flamingo and the Chilean Flamingo It’s time to head towards the Hotel where we will overnight, on our way we visit Árbol de Piedra (Tree of Stone), a very particular eolic formation. Arrival to “Tayka del Desierto”, it stands in the middle of a landscape painted by nature with a range of colors, in the heart of Siloli Desert at 4,600 m.a.s.l.

Day 19, Siloli Desert – Minor Lagoons – Salar De Uyuni – Tahua

After breakfast we will start towards the “Andean Jewels Lagoons”, the first one is “Laguna Honda” (Deep Lagoon), is the smallest of the surrounding lagoons and has a great variety of wild ducks and partridges. Then Laguna Hedionda (Smelly Lagoon) is a rather strange lake, the sulfur saturated waters give off an odor that can be noticed from several kilometers around the area, finally Cañapa Lagoon is surrounded by mountainous terrain and extinct volcanoes, its green color water contrasts majestically with the flamboyant colored flamingos that inhabited the area.

In a southwest direction to Uyuni, close to the border with Chile is Ollagüe Volcano, it has smoke near the top because it is active volcano.

It is time to go to the Tayka de Piedra Hotel at San Pedro de Quemes for lunch. Close to the hotel it is located in the Burned Town, called this way because when Bolivia and Chile where at the end of the XIX century, the Chilean Army came through and burnt the old town down.

Inside the magnificent Salar de Uyuni we will drive towards Incahuasi Island located 102 Km. From Uyuni village. It stands in the center of the flat salt, and it is the highlight of today’s trip and the most popular due to the stunning flora and fauna unique in the world, there will be after the short hike to the top of the island.

We continue our trip driving north entering the magnificent Salar de Uyuni and head towards the hotel for overnight, Hotel Tayka de Sal at the village of Tahua.

Day 20, Tahua – Salar De Uyuni – Colchani – Uyuni – La Paz

At 9 a.m. we start the drive up to the Thunupa Volcano, we will have a walk to arrive to a small viewpoint from where we will have a nice view of the majestic Salar de Uyuni, which can be seen with all its splendor. We will also be able to visit a small local museum in the community of Coquesa to see pre-Columbian mummies.
Then we are back to the beautiful Salar to take beautiful pictures. Later arrival at the Playa Blanca Hotel which is built of salt blocks, the general construction is very rustic and since it’s setting in the middle of the Salar it has an astonishing landscape. Then we will observe the “Ojos de Agua” (Water Eyes), are holes on the surface of the salt plain, inside which the brine (salt saturated water) located under the superficial crust bubbles up. Finally, we arrive to Colchani whose residents extract the salt using rudimentary tools such as a pick and shovels and later continue to the Train Cemetery (also called Train Graveyard), it is possible to observe a great number of antique steam locomotives and rail wagons of the early railroad days, built mainly in France and England.
Arrival to Uyuni at 5 p.m. approximately, where you will have free time until the departure of the bus back to La Paz.

Day 21, La Paz

At the bus terminal our staff will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel and you will have the free day to be able to walk around on your own and discover the living culture of the city of La Paz.

Today you will be transferred to La Paz airport to catch your flight back home.
